私は幼い頃からファッションの流れに敏感な方で、ただ流行りを追いかけるだけではなく、次シーズンにヒットすると思うスタイルやトレンドを探すことが大好きでした。そして現在はニューヨークに住み、毎日のように変化する素晴らしいファッションたちに囲まれた生活をする私が常に探しているもの、それは、近い将来ビッグになるであろう若手デザイナーであることは、言うまでもありません。その才能あるデザイナーたちの一人に、プラバル・グルンがいます。ネパール出身の彼は、ニューヨークに移った後、パーソンズを卒業し、そしてシンシア・ローリーの元で働きました。その後、ビル・ブラスの最後の年にデザインディレクターとして務め、そして2008年に自身のラインを立ち上げました。

The Power of Prabal

From a very young age I have always had a flair for fashion, not just for fashion, but a real intrinsic passion for picking out certain trends and styles that I knew were going to be big for the following season. Since living in New York and being immersed in incredible fashion on a daily basis I have found that I have been able to pick out talented designers that are on the cusp of becoming the next big thing on the fashion scene. One of these brilliant new designers is Prabal Gurung. Born in Nepal he moved to New York, graduated from Parson's and worked inhouse for Cynthia Rowley. Prabal then became design director during the last year of the Bill Blass house before debuting his own line in 2008.

Prabal has been compared to designers like Phillip Lim, Zac Posen and Alexander Wang for his cutting edge yet ageless fashion. Prabal has seemed to seamlessly cross generations and bring together uptown and downtown divides. He has dressed young celebrities like Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester to super star stylist Rachel Zoe. Prabal has recently had the honor of dressing First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and even Barbara Bush. Prabal is a driving force in this supersaturated industry where designer's moment can last as quick as a tacky trend.

One of my favorite looks for Prabal's Fall 2010 collection is the fractured Swarovski crystal color block dress, which can be seen on Style.com - this dress is full of attitude yet is chicly appropriate to wear to a dinner party, Prabal in boundlessness in his designs and will be one of the major designers you hear of this year.
