PHI: 早すぎるエンディング
2010年を迎え、同時にリセッションの終りを迎えようとする今日この頃、また一つのファッションブランドが不況の煽りを受けてその幕を閉じることになりました。そのあまりに早すぎる最後を迎えるのは、ファッションマニアが愛するNYブランド、PHI。この１年内にクローズすることが決定しています。
非常に高く評価されているこのブランドは、2003年にスーザン・デルによって立ち上げられ、クリエイティブディレクターのアンドレアス・メルボスタッドによって率いられてきました。Muse、ID、V Magazineのようなエッジーな雑誌のスタイリストが好んで撮影に使い、そのハイファッションに80年代のエッセンスを加えたデザインは、クールでシックなニューヨーカーに愛されてきたのです。
今月ショップに現れたプレスプリング・コレクションは、PHIにとっての最後のラインとなり、そしてソーホーの71 Greene Streetにあるショップは、今月いっぱいで閉店。経済状況による決断として公式に発表されています。
「ラグジュアリー商品にとって、今は本当に辛い状況です」と語るのは、PHIのCEOであるジュリア・ハンセン。「この市場の将来が明るくなるという確信もありません。」12月21日の木曜日、会社スタッフにこの決定が言い渡されました。
この悲しいニュースの中で、唯一嬉しいことと言えば、このクローズに伴って開かれる、盛大なサンプルセール。PHIの過去のサンプルセールの経験者である私から言わせてもらうと、PHIのサンプルセールはスゴい。ファッション・カルトの歴史の一部を手に入れる、絶好のチャンスになることは間違いありません。ブラック・クレープ・バイカー・パンツに、それに良く合うレザーのジップ・アンクル・ブーツなどなど、無くなる前に急ぎましょう！

PHI: Ending Too Soon
As we are about to celebrated the arrival of 2010 and celebrate the end of a recession, one more fashion label went down with the economy, however, this label has gone way too soon. The cult-adored NYC brand PHI is closing up shop for good within the next year.
PHI, the critically-acclaimed label founded by Susan Dell in 2003 and led by creative director, Andreas Melbostad, had always been an editorial darling among stylists of edgy magazines like Muse, ID, and V mag. PHI always gave a hard-edged esthetic combined with a kick back to the eighties feel, that was loved by the cool and chic of New York.
The pre-spring delivery, which arrived in stores this month, will be PHI’s last, and the PHI boutique at 71 Greene Street in SoHo is expected to close the end of January 2010. The company stated economic conditions for the decision.
"It's a really challenging climate right now for luxury goods," said PHI chief executive officer Julia Hansen. "There is not so much confidence in that market going forward." The company informed company staff of the decision on Monday Dec 21st.
The only up side to this very sad news of PHI shutting their doors, is the incredible sample sale they will host in the upcoming months. As a past participant of their sample sales, they are great. It will also be an incredible chance to purchase a piece of fashion cult history, like PHI's black crepe biker pants with a silver tone zip fastening pocket, which go perfectly the their tough luxe leather zip ankle boot. Get it before its gone!
